CVE-2025-0756

CVSS 9.1v3.1pub. 2025-04-16upd. 2026-04-15

Overview   The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not restrict or incorrectly restricts the input before it is used as an identifier for a resource that may be outside the intended sphere of control. (CWE-99)   Description   Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics versions before 10.2.0.2, including 9.3.x and 8.3.x, do not restrict JNDI identifiers during the creation of platform data sources.   Impact   An attacker could gain access to or modify sensitive data or system resources. This could allow access to protected files or directories including configuration files and files containing sensitive information, which can lead to remote code execution by unauthorized users.

🤖 AI Analysis
How it works

The application accepts input data from a parent component and uses it as JNDI resource identifiers without proper validation or restriction (CWE-99 — Resource Injection). An attacker with access to the data source creation function can pass a specially crafted JNDI identifier pointing to a resource outside the intended scope of control. This can enable access to protected files and directories, including configuration files containing sensitive data, and consequently lead to RCE.

Impact

An attacker can gain access to sensitive data and system resources, including configuration files, or modify them, and in the most serious scenario execute arbitrary code on the server (RCE).

Mitigation & patch

Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics should be updated to version 10.2.0.2 or later. Details are available in the official vendor security bulletin at the address indicated in the references.

Who is affected

Hitachi Vantara Pentaho Data Integration & Analytics in versions prior to 10.2.0.2, including 9.3.x and 8.3.x branches
