Improper Handling of Insufficient Permissions or Privileges vulnerability in Apache Kvrocks. This issue affects Apache Kvrocks: 2.8.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.16.0, which fixes the issue.
The vulnerability (CWE-280) results from improper handling by the application when an operation is performed with insufficient privileges. An attacker with basic access (PR:L) can, with minimal user interaction (UI:P), cause a situation where the system does not properly enforce privilege restrictions. This results in the possibility of obtaining unauthorized access or executing operations beyond the granted privileges.
An attacker may obtain a high level of access to sensitive data and the ability to modify it, as well as affect system availability — both in terms of the vulnerable component and systems associated with it.
Apache Kvrocks should be updated to version 2.16.0, which contains a fix eliminating the described vulnerability. Details are available on the Apache mailing list and in the oss-security service.
